The Rennies - Janice, Hugh, Julie and Katie - are proud to have been the Honorary Co-Chairs of the recently completed expansion project for Wellspring. The campaign raised over five million dollars for Westerkirk House at Sunnybrook Hospital. Wellspring is a network of community-based centres offering support and education, to individuals and families living with cancer.
Oochigeas, the first residential summer camp in Canada for children with cancer opened in 1984. Hugh Rennie was part of the founding team and the first Camp Director and Chairman. Julie and Katie both volunteered at Ooch for many years. Oochigeas now offers year round programs in Muskoka, at SickKid’s Hospital and “UrbanOoch” programs at the new facility in Toronto.
Established in 2004 by Laurel Brooks and Lynn Keane with a vision to create an athletic event that would become part of the Muskoka community and tradition. Held each summer in support of Camp Oochigeas, the race has helped generate awareness and over $300,000 for programming and equipment.
